Gaibrielle Cleary Partner

I believe the key to being a successful tax adviser is the desire and aptitude for problem solving. This requires not only detailed knowledge of all aspects of income taxation law, but also indirect taxes and corporations law.
Being a tax partner is a highly technical role but one that also requires the application of common sense and a commercial approach. I strive to deliver practical tax advice tailored to the “real world” of business and relish the opportunity to find the most effective outcome.
After 20 years in the profession, I have solid experience in most areas of taxation with particular expertise in corporate taxation, international taxation and capital gains tax. I have extensive experience in the areas of corporate restructures, mergers and acquisitions, divestments, employee share schemes and the management of taxation audits.
I am also the author of a number of leading tax publications in the areas of small business concessions and capital gains tax. With the latest being the 6th Edition of Small Business Tax Concessions Guide, published November 2019.
My wide-ranging and varied clients include listed public companies, large Australian companies, subsidiaries of international group, SMEs and high net wealth individuals.
Prior to Mazars, I built my experience holding senior positions in major international law firms, the Big 4 and other Australian accounting firms. I was also legal counsel for an ASX listed company.
When away from the office, I am usually found kayaking on Sydney Harbour, practising pilates or attending music concerts.
