Stephen Baxter Partner
I assist my clients to make better and wiser business and investment decisions when they encounter the world of indirect taxes.
Indirect taxes are a mysterious, confusing and constantly changing field. With decades of experience in multiple taxes, I am well equipped to help clients understand where they have liabilities and also where opportunities for exemptions and credits can be taken.
My specialties and background include:
•GST planning and transaction advice for the property sector as well as land tax dispute and planning
advice for developers, investors and family property portfolios.
•Implementing whole of business GST systems in Australia.
•Implementing tax systems for state government authorities.
•Establishing streamlined GST compliance systems in Australia for non-residents.
•Providing fuel tax credits advice and claims assistance for the transport, construction and Government
sectors.
•Planning strategies to reduce indirect tax costs for manufacturers, importers and wholesalers.
•Payroll tax advice and planning.
My membership of the Commonwealth Board of Taxation Advisory Panel since 2008 has enabled me to influence the development of indirect taxes in Australia.
I also author the GST chapters for Wolters Kluwer Small Business Tax Concessions Guide.
