Mazars is delighted to announce six new partners and four new directors strengthening its leadership and service offering in Australia. The promotions reflect our ongoing commitment to develop the careers and capabilities of people across the firm to deliver high-quality and bespoke services to clients.
Managing Partner of the Sydney office, Jim Mascitelli comments, “We strive to put people before processes, empowering our people to lead, innovate and be entrepreneurial. These individuals have grown as leaders and bring strength to our organisation as we forge forward in 2021.”
Amongst the newly appointed partners is Cheryl-Anne Laird, who with 25 years’ experience has an enviable reputation of providing Human Resources (HR) and Industrial Relations (IR) consulting services. Cheryl-Anne joined Mazars Brisbane in 2018 as the Managing Director of Mazars HR Pty Limited trading as Providence HR, and has a unique mix of tertiary qualifications including law, business and psychology. The eclectic yet relevant qualifications have proven valuable in assisting clients in navigating the myriad of challenges which arise across the entire sphere of HR and IR – a unique offering for the Australian firm which continues to expand.
Further partner promotions announced include:
James Martin, Partner – audit and assurance After 9 years within the Mazars Group, including a stint in New York auditing real-estate investment funds, James is now based in Sydney. Thriving in a fast-paced environment he works closely with his clients, understanding the complexities of their business as he provides end-to-end risk and assurance solutions. His experience extends to a variety of clients from SME’s to ASX listed’ s and large foreign owned enterprises, including some of Mazars’ largest audit clients.
Donavin van Rooyen, Partner – accounting and outsourcing
Located in Brisbane, Donavin provides clients with a complete suite of services including virtual CFO, payroll and day to day transactional. His comprehensive understanding of cloud based accounting solutions, coupled with his business advisory expertise enable him to proactively identify practical solutions that support business efficiencies and growth by pin pointing key drivers.
Michael Wen, Partner – business advisory, specialising in Asian business services
Having grown up in Shanghai, Michael is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, English and other dialects. Michael provides Asian national clients and in particular Chinese nationals, with accounting, financing and taxation affairs for both their Australian and overseas entities.
Tim Mouritz, Partner – business advisory, specialising in agribusiness
Tim has 10 years’ experience working with business owners, in particular primary producers. His knowledge and understanding of the unique challenges agricultural business owners face allows him to provide clients with comprehensive accounting solutions.
Simone Gordon, Partner – business advisory
Simone has been with Mazars for over 12 years. During this time, she has progressed her career holding Accountant, Manager, Associate, Director and now Partner positions with the firm. Simone’s background in the banking and travel industries coupled with her in-depth knowledge of accounting and cloud based solutions allows her to identify and deliver an efficient business solution for clients.

Owen Dingle, Director – finance consulting, specialising in agribusiness
Owen works with his clients to formulate strategies that will help them grow organically and through acquisitions. As a Director with Mazars, Owen draws on his 18 years’ experience in the banking and finance sector to bring valuable debt funding, structuring, commercial sales and business acumen to his clients.
Frances Hill, Director - superannuation
As a Director of Mazars’ superannuation division with more than 15 years’ experience, Frances supports clients through all stages of their superannuation journey and helps them navigate the complex and ever-changing environment of superannuation. Frances is a qualified Certified Practicing Accountant and an accredited specialist superannuation adviser with the SMSF Association which amplifies her expertise in all areas of taxation, accounting and superannuation. She is also licensed to provide strategic financial advice.
Jarryd Lazzarini, Director- business advisory
Jarryd has over 12 years’ experience in business services and tax roles. In addition to assisting clients with business structures and tax implications, Jarryd also specialises in the federal governments research and development tax incentive.
Scott Hutton, Director – business advisory
Drawing on experience from his 20+ year career, Scott advises his clients on establishing, operating and growing their family businesses and personal wealth. He achieves this through proactive advice around optimal business and investment structures, asset protection, managing their taxation obligations and strategic advice to maximise after-tax profitability.
The ten promotions announced echo the promotions made last year, which saw Liliana Harris, Evan Beissel and Robert James appointed as Partners in our Melbourne office.
