ACNC revised lodgement deadline of 31 March fast approaching

The end of the extended lodgement period has nearly expired for charities yet to report for 30 June 2018 with the 31 March deadline fast approaching.

According to a recent update from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), over 12,000 charities have already lodged their Annual Information Statement (AIS) for the 2018 financial year.

The original extension was provided at the discretion of the Commissioner, the Hon. Dr. Gary Johns, in October 2018, as a result of changes to the ACNC portal.  This extension provided charities with extra time to lodge their AIS for the 30 June 2018 period, from the original dates of between 31 December and 28 February.

The AIS provides a key information collection tool for charities and the ACNC.  Information included in the AIS is published on the ACNC website and used by donors, stakeholders, and the Commission in assessing charity performance.  Charities with over $250,000 in revenue are required to submit reviewed financial statements and charities with over $1,000,000 in revenue are required to submit audited financial statements.

Should you require assistance with lodging your AIS prior ahead of the 31 March deadline please contact your usual Mazars adviser or alternatively speak to our Not-for-Profit specialists: Michael Georghiou, Matthew Beasley, and Matthew Green.
